The 8272-608 model is from Woodward Inc. series 2301A Load Sharing and Speed controls. The unique controls that come with this model are used to provide load sharing and speed control for installation with driving engine loads which are isolated through torque converters and split shaft gas turbines.

Installations producing an electrical power output may use a 2301A speed control and a 2301A speed and load control. The use of a series connection between the two-speed controls provides a low-signal-select feature; the primary control is the speed control on the N2. Speed control on the gas generator or engine functions as a limiter which prevents the unit from calling for excess speed. 

The use of power generation applications is typically restricted to gas turbines. Due to the wide assortment of auxiliary power features available with 2301A Load Sharing and Speed controls this unit is the standard selection for the control N2 turbine. The 8272-608 speed control is used with the N1 gas turbine and a 8272-609 is used for the N2 turbine. Usage of load sharing and speed control 8272-608 allows automatic generator loading and automatic synchronizing. 

The 10 to 40 Vdc power supply is provided through wires dedicated to the governors. Under no circumstances should power be drawn from a distribution point; a single power supply may be used for both controls. If a battery is being used as an operating power source, an alternator or other battery charging device is absolutely necessary to maintain stable voltage.
