Produced by Woodward, the 8273-503 unit is a version of the 2301D Load Sharing and Speed Control Series. The 8273-503 is a microprocessor-based device that manages the speed and load sharing of generators that are driven by diesel or other gaseous engines. It includes highly flexible software that reduces the amount of auxiliary equipment required in the control system, reducing costs for users and allowing users to customize the device to their unique engine system. This particular version accepts a V DC input of twenty-four and is specially designed for operation in hazardous environments, meaning that it has additional protection against parameters such as temperature or humidity.
Able to operate in base load mode, droop mode, or isochronous mode, the 8273-503 is made even more flexible by its ability to function in any of these three user-set states. The isochronous mode is employed for constant prime mover speed, the droop mode is employed for speed control as a function of load, and the base load mode offers constant load level operation. The 8273-503 is also outfitted with a variety of inputs and outputs, including analog inputs, analog outputs, discrete relay driver outputs, and discrete switch inputs. The inputs and outputs are made through screwless, spring-actuated terminal blocks.
