About the 8273-505
This module 8273-505 is one of the several Woodward-manufactured products that is classified as a Woodward 2301D-EC Digital Load Sharing and Speed Control module, intended for engine management, regulation, and control.
The 8273-505 module is designed to control the load sharing and speed of diesel or gas-powered engines. This unit, as well as the others in the Woodward 2301D-EC category, are based around a microprocessor design. This increases the amount of flexibility in the unit’s control software.
The 8273-505 is housed within a protective sheet metal chassis, and the internal components to run the software consist of a single printed circuit board. There are three operating modes provided to run the functionalities of this unit.
The isochronous mode is intended for use with constant engine speed with either a single engine or two or more that are controlled by a Woodward analog load sharing control system on an isolated bus. The droop mode is used for speed control for a single-engine on an infinite bus, or a parallel operation of two or more engines. The baseload mode is able to provide a constant load level operation against a bus with the controlled load. The load setting is set by a fixed reference, external analog input, or contact control.
