About the 9907-163
This device belongs to a series developed by the oldest and leading manufacturing company in America, Woodward Inc. These units are designated as the 505/505E series of digital control units, built to operate a choice of either one or both of the split stage actuators in steam turbines in order to drive the inlet steam valves.
This is a legacy AC 505, DC 505 component. It is rated for Class 1 Div 2 locations.
The 9907-163 model is a governor unit, able to process all of the turbine operational parameters. These models are outfitted with an internal microprocessor module, which enables them to be able to control turbines, as well as other similar devices, such as a turbogenerator or expander module.
The 9907-163 is outfitted with a series of printed circuit boards that allow the unit to function and process commands. These boards are protected by the frame of the unit, however, there is an option for an additional layer of protection for this unit. This consists of the NEMA 4X graded protective frame. When attached, it is still able to be securely and safely mounted within a control panel system. However, the acceptable ambient temperature range decreases slightly, from a high intensity of 65 degrees C to 55.
In order to properly configure the unit and the turbine’s specifications, the operator must input these changes via the integrated control panel. This panel displays two lines of text, at 24 characters each.
