About the 8262-092

This digital control is part of Woodward Governor’s 723 Position Control System. Model number 8262-092 provides a 20-160mA actuator output. The 723 Position Control is also available for 4-20mA actuator output (model 8262-094).

The 8262-092 model protects turbine systems from overspeed conditions by supplying the actuator output signal in the event of a turbine control failure. 723 model 8262-092 is designed to work with the Woodward 505 Digital Turbine Control. If a 505 Control failure occurs, the 723 Position Control will automatically take over as the actuator signal source.

If the actuator signal source is switched from the 505 Control to the 723 Control, the actuator output signal is raised or lowered manually after the switch. When the 505 Control function is restored, the actuator signal source is switched back from the 723 Control.

There are a few accessories that can be used with the 8262-092 control. Part number 9907-205 is Woodward’s Hand Held Programmer, which plugs into serial port J1 of this Position Control to adjust and monitor its functions. The 723 Position Controls can also be operated using an optional panel, the 723 Operation Board. Details on the use of these accessories with this unit can be found in Woodward 723 Installation and Operation Manual 26097.
