About the 8280-1042
This Woodward 723PLUS single-engine digital speed control is designed for marine propulsion applications in which diesel reciprocating engines are in use. Model 8280-1042 has a DSLC (Digital Synchronizer & Load Control) speed bias input and two-speed sensing inputs that support magnetic pickups (MPUs) or proximity switches.
There are several configurable I/Os on the 8280-1042 control, including three communication ports, J1, J2, and J3. The J1 port is dedicated to a Hand Held Programmer (Woodward part 9907-205) or Watch Window (PC-based software). Ports J1 and J2 are configurable to RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 communications. 723PLUS model 8280-1042 is a low voltage model, requiring a voltage source of18–40 Vdc (24 or 32 Vdc nominal). Low voltage models such as this one meet compliance standards the high voltage models do not, details of which can be found in Woodward Manual 02876. All 723PLUS models CSA certified for Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, & D.
