About the 8280-1109
Part 8280-1109 is designed for use in dual engine (diesel engine) marine applications to regulate engine speed and load, and to control clutching functions. This is a Woodward 723PLUS Digital Marine Speed Control model intended for marine applications in which mechanical torque sharing (using LonWorks communications) is required.
Mechanical torque sharing is done by matching torque sensor inputs, which have a torque sensor failure mode. 723PLUS model 8280-1109 permits single-throttle operation for both engines during clutched operation and has both clutch control and permissive logic.
The 8280-1109 control boasts advanced speed-sensing algorithms, and redundant speed signals are possible by using two magnetic pickups (MPUs) or proximity switches.
The input voltage range of part 8280-1109 is 18–40 Vdc. This control is in a metal housing and should be installed in a protected location where a temperature range of –40 to +158 °F is maintained during operation (–67 to +221 °F during storage). Software parameters of this control are set using either Watch Window software (PC-based, part number 8923-932) or a Woodward Hand Held Programmer (part number 9907-205). There are three serial ports on the 8280-1109 for this purpose.
This Woodward 723PLUS marine control is UL Listed for Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, and D, and is CSA Certified and CE Compliant. Additional information on certifications and listings can be found in Woodward 723PLUS Digital Marine Control Installation and Operation Manual Technical Manual 26482.
