About the 8280-1129
Model 8280-1129 is a single-engine digital speed control designed for single-engine, single-propeller (variable or fixed pitch) marine propulsion systems. This Woodward 723PLUS control can be used with medium- and high-speed diesel reciprocating engines to control speed and load. Speed-sensing is done by either passive magnetic pickups (MPUs) or active proximity switches (two inputs).
I/Os on the 723PLUS 8280-1129 control include three configurable analog outputs, an actuator output, and three relay inputs (engine trouble, shutdown, status indication). This Woodward control boasts three communication ports, which are as follows:
- One port dedicated to Standard PC Interface, Watch Window, or a hand-held programmer (Woodward part number 9907-205)
- Two ports are configurable to RS-422, RS-232, or RS-485.
Of the two configurable communication ports, one is configured for Servlink, while the other is configured for Modbus.
Woodward control model 8280-1129 requires a voltage power source of 18 to 40 Vdc, capable of supplying 40 W and 7 A. It is suitable for use in locations that provide an operating temperature range of –40 to +70 °C (–40 to +158 °F). Mounting and operating this 723PLUS control outside of this range may cause damage to the unit and negatively affect performance.
