About the 8280-1173
For dual-engine marine applications model 8280-1173 offers a range of features, such as clutch control and permissive logic, flexible coupling torsional filtering, manifold or external fuel limiting, and single-throttle operation during clutched operation for medium/high-speed diesel engines (over 100 rpm).
Woodward 723PLUS model 8280-1173 boasts numerous I/Os, including 4–20 mA remote speed-setting input, 4–20 mA manifold or external fuel input, and redundant communication ports which are used for control status between controls for loading and clutching. This control also has eight discrete inputs for:
- Run/Stop
- Clutch Request
- Clutch Status
- Idle/Rated
- Raise Speed
- Lower Speed
- Either Overspeed Test or Emergency Declutch (configurable contact)
- Either Alarm Reset or Dynamics 2 (configurable contact)
Outputs on the 8280-1173 control include three configurable 4–20 mA outputs. These outputs are configurable for:
- Engine speed
- Engine load
- Speed reference
- Actuator driver output
- Remote speed input
- PID output
A complete list of the I/Os on model 8280-1173 can be found in Woodward 723PLUS Digital Marine Speed Control, Two-engine Mechanical Load Sharing Installation and Operation Manual 26808. This control is programmed and monitored using a hand-held programmer, Woodward part number 9907-205.
