About the 8280-412
This digital speed control is compatible for use with reciprocating engines. It is a low-voltage Digital Synchronizer and Load Control model in the 723PLUS Digital Speed Control line by Woodward. The DSLC can be tapped into via one of the controller’s two LON channels. The other LON channel supports Woodward LINKnet input/output nodes. Two serial channels allow the 8280-412 to interface to an HMI or other Modbus master device.
Model 8280-412 is suitable for applications that require monitoring flexible coupling torsionals, as the controller’s two-speed inputs can be used for either proximity switches or magnetic pickups (MPUs). Operating speeds should provide a minimum magnetic pickup frequency of 400 Hz if MPUs are to be used. Other inputs on this speed control include one for remote load or speed setting, one for output fuel limiting, and an internal speed reference.
The low voltage 8280-412 is rated for 18 to 40 Vdc input voltage. This control is also available in a high-voltage version (8280-413), as well as high and low-voltage versions designed for low-speed engines (models 8280-466 and 8280-467). The installation and operation manual for all four models of this DSLC compatible control is the 723PLUS Digital Speed Control for Reciprocating Engines—DSLC Compatible Installation and Operation Product Manual 02878.
