About the 8280-413
723PLUS Digital Speed Control model 8280-413 is a DSLC-compatible Woodward Controller. This high-voltage model controls the engine speed and load with reciprocating engines in generator set service. The unit’s two-speed inputs are compatible for use with proximity switches or magnetic pickups.
The 8280-413 has two LON channels, one for tapping into the DSLC to monitor parameters, and the other to monitor functions by using Woodward LINKnet input/output nodes. Modbus master devices, such as an HMI, can be interfaced with using the controller’s serial ports.
There are both analog and discrete I/Os on this control, the details of which can be found in 723PLUS Digital Speed Control for Reciprocating Engines—DSLCTM Compatible Installation and Operation Manual Product Manual 02878. This manual also contains information on the other versions of this control, a low-voltage model (8280-412), a low-voltage, low-speed model (8280-466), and a high-voltage, low-speed model (8280-467).
The 723PLUS model 8280-413 control is a customizable control, permitting it to be used in a variety of installations. Parameters are set using either the PC-based Watch Window software or the Hand Held Programmer (Woodward part 9907-205). Operators don’t need extensive programming knowledge to manage the control, since both Watch Window and the programmer use a menu-based system.
