About the 8280-414
Model 8280-141 is the low-voltage version of the Woodward 723PLUS Analog Load Sharing Digital Speed Control. This digital speed control is used to control the load and speed of reciprocating engines that are in generator set service.
This includes those with flexible couplings, as the speed signal inputs on the 8280-414 support the use of either proximity switches (speed signal frequencies below 1000 Hz) or magnetic pickups (minimum 400 Hz magnetic pickup frequency). Other control options include tandem actuator outputs, 0–1 or 4–20 mA analog outputs, or 4–20 or 0–200 mA actuator outputs.
The 723PLUS part 8280-414 is CSA Certified (Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, & D). According to Woodward Governor, when this controller is put into service per the instructions outlined in the product manual, the controller complies with the requirements of EN50081- 2 and EN50082-2.
The low voltage model 8280-414 has a 40 W nominal power consumption and requires an 18 to 40 Vdc voltage source. High voltage models (8280-415, 8280-481) require a voltage source of 90 to 150 Vdc. Models 8280-480 and 8280-481 are the low-speed versions for engines rated at 130 rpm or less. Aside from these voltage and engine speed rating differences, these three other models are identical to the 8280-414.
