About the 8280-416
This DSLC/MSLC Gateway Control is a low-voltage model in Woodward’s 723PLUS series. The acceptable input voltage range of the LV models is 18 to 40 Vdc, and a nominal current in-rush of 7 A is possible. Part 8280-416 requires 40 W of power. A high-voltage version of this control is also available (model 8280-417).
The 8280-416 DSLC/MSLC Gateway Control can be used with up to fourteen DSLC units and one MSLC for generator system load management, as well as load sharing control. Two serial ports on this 723PLUS control can interface to an HMI (or other Modbus master device), allowing for parameter monitoring when generator information is extracted and given a Modbus address.
All network-connected MSLC and DSLC units can receive commands and values via a third serial port. If testing requires commands and values to be forced onto the units, there are provisions included to allow it for that purpose.
There are several Woodward accessories for the 723PLUS controls. These incude:
- A handheld programmer (part 9907-205 or 9905-292) – plugs into one of the control’s communication ports and is used to adjust the 8280-416 software parameters.
- An MSLC (Master Synchronizer and Load Control) and DSLC (Digital Synchronizer and Load Control) – These communicate system and generator parameters to the 8280-416 control via the unit’s LON channels. Information extraction is done using the LON Binding Kit (part number 8928-158), or the 723PLUS DSLC/GATEWAY Standard Database (part number 8928-053)
- Servlink/Watch Window – PC-based software that provides an interface for monitoring and adjusting control variables in real time. Servlink/Watch Window is interfaced with the 8280-416 via a serial cable plugged into one of the unit’s communication ports.
More information on the 8280-416 control and its compatible accessories can be found in Woodward 723PLUS Digital DSLC/MSLC Gateway Installation and Operation Product Manual 02831.
