About the 8280-465
8280-465 is a high voltage (90 to 150 Vdc, 22 A nominal) model in the Woodward 723PLUS series of digital speed controls. This model is intended for use in variable speed applications to control the speed of reciprocating engines. A low-voltage version is also available (part number 8280-465; 18-40 Vdc, 7 A nominal).
723PLUS controls have two-speed signal inputs. These inputs can be used for two MPUs, provided the speed input frequency falls into the 400 Hz to 15 kHz range. Alternately, two proximity switches may be used instead. In that case, the speed input frequency range should be 30 Hz to 15 kHz.
Additional I/Os on this model include:
- Discrete inputs (10 ms ±15% response time)
- Analog inputs (±5 Vdc or 0–20 mA)
- Load sharing input (1.0% of full-scale accuracy)
- 0–1 or 4–20 mA analog outputs
- 0–20 or 0–200 mA analog outputs
- Relay contact outputs
