About the 8280-480
Designed by Woodward Inc for the 723/723PLUS Analog Load Sharing Speed Control series, the 8280-480 model is a low-voltage low-speed unit. This model must be used with an engine or prime mover rated at 130 revolutions per minute (rpm) or less to ensure no injury or error occurs. As a 723/723PLUS speed control, this model is used in aiding with load and speed functions with reciprocating engines within generator set services, such as those equipped with flexible couples. This model also has inputs that can be used with two magnetic pickups or proximity switches, an input for remote speed or load settings, an input for a kW sensor, an input for a synchronizer, and more. Refer to the attached Woodward documentation for more information regards the different inputs available.
There are several things included in a 723/723PLUS control system, one of them being the 8280-480 speed control. Some features of the control system are two optional relay-driven alarms and shutdowns, eight optional switch contacts to manage control functions, a single printed circuit board, and an optional synchronizer. For more features, refer to Chapter One of the 02879 manual.
