About the 8280-608
723PLUS Digital Speed Control model 8280-608 is one of the Digital Synchronizer and Load Control (DSLC) compatible devices in the Woodward 723PLUS series. Unlike other Woodward controls, part 8280-608 has Analog Input Load Sharing (AILS). This low-voltage 723PLUS control system is designed to be used with diesel engines in tandem engine systems.
In case of analog load-sharing input failure, the 8280-608 comes with a backup actuator output engine load-sharing schedule, which includes provisions for manual adjustment.
There are numerous analog and discrete inputs/outputs on the Woodward 723PLUS AILS control. Some of these I/Os are:
- Two-speed inputs for one or two magnetic pickups (MPUs)
- Remote speed reference transmitter
- Two analog engine load transmitters
- Analog input load sharing
- Discrete inputs to connect to alarm reset, droop, speed fail to override, etc.
Some of the controls I/Os are configurable. Woodward 723PLUS Manual 26141 is the 8280-608 manual and contains details on all the unit’s I/Os and available functions.
Three communication ports on the 8280-608 provide a few options for managing control functions. Watch Window PC interface, a hand-held programmer, and a Modbus master device (such as an HMI) are all options that are compatible with this 723PLUS control. There are also two LON channels on this control to support LinkNet modules and a DSLC. Manual 26141 has details on the 723PLUS Digital Control accessories.
