This unit, listed here under the numerical ID, “9905-096,” is an Automatic Generator Loading control unit. This device was developed and produced by the oldest motor control manufacturer in the country, Woodward Inc. The Woodward AGLC units are designed to be used alongside a set of load sharing and speed control modules.

The 9905-096 is implemented into the generator system in order to automatically control the loading and unloading of the engine/generator set.  It is able to achieve a bumpless transfer when paralleling an engine/generator set from a load-sharing set. When the circuit breaker’s auxiliary contacts close, the 9905-096 model powers up. It compares the available potential that is on the load sharing lines of the oncoming generator with the potential of the system.

The 9905-096 model is outfitted with a Base Load setting and Unload Ramp setting. The Base Load setting causes the load to be changed at the load-ramp rate to the baseload setting. The load will then alter itself, up or down to the base-load position. The Unload Ramp setting causes the 9905-096 to ramp down at the user-selected ramp rate, whether the switch is left open or if it is closed again. These ramps can be easily adjusted, at a range from 5 seconds to 5 minutes.
