About the 8440-2050
Up to 32 connected gensets can be controlled with this control unit using automatic sequencing. Woodward easYgen-3000 model 8440-2050 offers an extensive set of features for a range of genset control applications, including peak shaving, cogeneration, AMF, and more. This control unit has a built-in HMI complete with a color LCD and soft keys. Configuration may be done via the 8440-2050 operator interface or via PC (using ToolKit software).
Woodward part 8440-2050 has configurable discrete and analog inputs and outputs. This easYgen controller has a maximum of 12 discrete outputs, and a maximum of 16 external discrete I/Os via CANopen. Analog inputs are maxed at 3, with analog outputs (+/- 10V, +/- 20mA, PWM) maxed at 2.
The 8440-2050 model offers generator, engine, and mains protections. A magnetic / switching pickup speed input is used to monitor for overspeed/underspeed conditions. It has a measuring frequency of 50/60 Hz (40 to 85 Hz). This genset controller also monitors for conditions such as speed and frequency mismatch, auxiliary excitation failure, and unbalanced load. Woodward easYgen-3000 manual 37258P has complete details on all these features and more.
Part 8440-2050 has a 12/24 VDC (8 to 40 VDC) power supply. This unit is safe for operation in environments with an ambient temperature range of -20 to 70 °C ( -4 to 158 °F), though it may be stored in temps between -30 and 80 °C ( -22 to 176 °F). Ambient humidity should not exceed 95% (non-condensing). This model is designed for front panel mounting and has 5A CT inputs.
