About the 8200-176
The 8200-176 EM Digital Driver when used in conjunction with the (DIP) Driver Interface Program software, provides a sophisticated firewall algorithm in order to protect your system from a wide range of actuator load inertia and friction levels that cause mechanical failures. This model is used in conjunction with other Woodward parts such as Netcon and MicroNet control systems (sold separately on our site).
After installing your DIP through the provided disk or .EXE on Woodward's site, follow the system's download instructions to install the protocol server. Once installation is complete, you may be instructed to reboot your PC so that changes will take effect. Manual 26159 (found on our site) will provide great detail about the software and hardware capabilities of this 8200-176 Driver and its software.
The system resets must come from either the DIP itself or the RS-232 cable being disconnected before a Reset command from a NetCon or MicroNet will clear the Shutdown condition. As long as the source of the shutdown is active, no other source can Reset the driver. The RS-485 interface and DIP may each shut down the 8200-176 unit at any time. Please read the EM Digital Driver Installation and Operation Manual 26159 to become familiar with the hardware and software prior to operation or troubleshooting.
