Actuator model 8256-087 from Woodward's EPG (Electronically Powered Governor) Series is designed to work with prime movers powered by gas, diesel, or gasoline. The product weighs under two pounds and can be used on prime movers of low-mass and low-friction that do not have a hydraulic oil supply or mechanical drive. It has a 12-volt power supply with a minimum of 10 VDC and a maximum of 16 VDC. The actuator will consume at most 60 watts. When accelerating or decelerating the prime mover, travel is required.

Specifications for actuator model 8256-087 include;

• Withstands ambient temperatures of -40 to 200 Fahrenheit.
• Designed with corrosive-resistant cast aluminum.
• Minimum magnetic pickup of 1.5 VRMS.
• 15 A fuse and switch.
• Mounting capable near the prime mover.

To create a full EPG system, the actuator needs to be added to speed control and magnetic pickup. All three of these parts must typically be purchased separately. This product is compliant with EU Directive. Product 8256-087 has been discontinued by Woodward but is still available through other sources, such as AX Control. These actuators can be sold, bought, and even repaired through AX Control. All repairs have a three-year warranty, as well.
