Product Description

Model 8256-089 is a Woodward actuator in the Electrically Powered Governor series. Using this product with speed control and magnetic pickup will create a complete EPG system. This actuator will consume a maximum of 60 watts of power. It has a rated speed adjustment of a 25-turn potentiometer. The product is powered by a 12-volt battery, with a minimum supply of 10 VDC and a maximum of 16 VDC. The wire length of the actuator will vary based on the wire used and the connection made.

Wiring can be 35 to 30 feet from the battery to the control depending on if 14 AWG or 12AWG wire is used. 12 AWG will allow for a distance of 20 feet. The wire can have a length ranging from 25 feet to 10 feet from the actuator to the control. 12 AWG can have a distance of 25 feet, while 14 AWG can only reach 10 feet long. If wire lengths exceeded farther than they are meant to it can cause the actuator to not work properly. Product 8256-089 is designed to be used on prime movers and can be installed near the engine. The ambient temperature for the actuator should not reach higher than 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Model 8256-089 has been discontinued by Woodward, but can be found through AX Control.
