Model 8290-047 is a Woodward speed control device that is only made for use on gas or gasoline-powered engines. It is in the Electrically Powered Governor series and can be used as part of a full EPG system. The speed control must be added to an actuator and magnetic pickup to create a full system. This device is a single-phase droop control product and is powered by a 12-volt battery. Product 8290-047 must be operated within the required speed range of 3000 to 6000 Hz.

The device is made to last in high heat and can be operated in temperatures that range from -40 to 167 Fahrenheit. While the speed control device can be mounted onto the prime mover, it should be installed from hire sources of heat, such as the exhaust. It should be mounted with plenty of room to install the wires and reach for maintenance. Speed control devices also need to be mounted in a place with plenty of natural air circulation as well to allow for a natural cooling down method.

Model 8290-047 has been discontinued by Woodward, but can currently be bought, sold, and repaired through AX Control. Repairs from AX Control are also provided with a three-year warranty.
