About the 8290-052

Product 8290-052 is an isochronous speed control device from Woodward. It comes from the Electrically Powered Governor series and has been designed for use with prime movers. The device is made for use on movers with low mass and low friction. This model, and others in the series, do not require a hydraulic supply or manual drive to operate.

Model 8290-052 should be installed near the actuator and battery, in a covered area away from the weather. It should also be kept from high-heat devices, such as the exhaust. To create a full EPG system, this speed control device needs to be combined with magnetic pickup and an actuator. Model 8290-052 is only compatible with gas or gasoline-powered engines. While this speed control has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available through Woodward, it can still be found through other sources. The 8290-052 model is another one of the Isochronous Speed Control models that operates on a 24-Volt battery and can be used with more generators. If you are using paralleling generators please note that a 2500 Load Sensor must be attached. - AX Control Technician
