An isochronous speed control device from the Woodward Electrically Powered Governor series is model 8290-062. Adding this product to an actuator and magnetic pickup will create a complete EPG system for use on prime movers. This model can be used on movers with no mechanical drive or hydraulic supply. This model is only compatible with turbines powered by gas and diesel. It uses a 12-volt battery for power and can be mounted directly onto the prime mover it will be operating with. Model 8290-062 should be installed in a covered place, close to the battery and actuator to ensure wires stay at the proper length. Wires that can be used with this device are 12 AWG and 14 AWG.

Model 8290-062 can be used with actuator models 8256-022 and 8256-017. It should be cooled off using natural air circulation and mounted in a location with good ventilation. This speed control device is compliant with EU Directives. Operating temperatures when using this product should be kept between -40 and 167 degrees Fahrenheit. Woodward has discontinued product 8290-062, but it can be found with AX Control. AX Control can buy, sell, and repair these isochronous speed control devices.
