Woodward product 8290-103 is a speed control device that can be used on various types of prime movers. This device is compatible with gas or gasoline engines and diesel or gas turbines. The speed control model can be mounted in any configuration and works with position feedback. It uses a 2 KW potentiometer speed trim. Model 8290-103 is part of the Electrically Powered Governor series and is compatible to work with any model of actuators. It can operate with all of the actuators belonging to this Woodward series. Adding this device to an actuator and magnetic pickup creates a full EPG system.

The temperature range when using this product should stay from -40 to 167 degrees Fahrenheit. Similar to other speed control devices from the Woodward series, this model is EU Directive Compliant. The minimum magnetic pickup input is 1.5 VRMS. It can be installed with 12AWG and 14AWG wires. When mounted, the device should be in a protected and ventilated space, close to both the actuator and battery. Even though Woodward has discontinued the manufacturing of product 8290-103, it can currently be found through sources like AX Control. AX Control will sell, buy, and repair these speed control devices, and any repairs are given a three-year warranty.
