About the 5503-335
The 5503-335 module is one of the final 5200 CPUs in the MicroNet series. This module has sixty-four megabytes of flash memory and one hundred twenty-eight megabytes of RAM; the module will also operate at four hundred megahertz. One key feature of this module is that it offers a high processor when used with a Power PC and has CAN, Real-Time Network, and Ethernet ports. There are operating temperature limits for this model which is negative forty to a positive one hundred eighty-five degrees Fahrenheit.
As this board will be considered a CPU-based system, the 5503-335 must be used with an expansion chassis that has a Remote RTN module. There are ten LEDs on the front faceplate which are as follows:
-
TX/RX
-
LINK
-
STANDBY
-
SYSCON
-
RUN
-
IOLOCK
-
LVCC
-
WATCHDOG
-
CAN #1, #2
-
FAULT
The LEDs each have different functions. The FAULT LED will be red and indicates a CPU fault by flashing red. Typically the IOLOCK LED will also light up red to indicate that there is an I/O LOCK condition in the VMEbus or in the CPU itself.
As a 5200 CPU model, the 5503-335 module is considered obsolete according to the 26166V1 manual. The third version of the manual which is the 26166V3 manual also gives information on the 5200 CPU module. While labeled as obsolete this model can still be found used online.
