About the 9905-857

Summary

The 9905-857 is a digital control for steam turbines in the Peak 150 series by Woodward. This unit is a 24VDC model in the series with a NEMA 4 water and dust-tight enclosure to ensure functionality in harsh industrial environments. This unit, like the others in this series, is set up with the separate handheld programmer unit. The 9905-857 was designed to work with single-valve or single-valve rack steam turbines.

Operational Features

The NEMA D type motor of the 9905-857 gives it more precise control over speed. The 4-20mA remote speed control signal allows the unit to do things such as have a process-generated input control the speed. The front panel of the 9905-857 has 6 LED indicators to indicate the statuses of critical system components like the CPU, MPUs, remote speed setting signal, shutdown, and overspeed test. This front panel also has 6 keypad switches which allow the operator to do things like raise speed, lower speed, start, overspeed test, reset the alarm, or manually trip the system in case of emergency.

Additional Specifications

The 9905-857 draws a maximum of 38W of power when in operation. The dimensions of the 9905-857 are 483mm by 310mm by 105mm. This unit conforms to the US MIL-STD-810D Method 507.2 humidity standard, the US MIL-STD-167 Type 1 vibration standard, and the US MIL-STD-810C Method 516.2 shock standard. This unit has a critical speed avoidance feature to help protect the skid/turbine from too much vibration.

Reviews For 9905-857

Internal Review
(4.0)

The 9905-857 is a good budget digital control for steam turbines. It carries the same standard features as the rest of the models in the series, but it is lacking some of the extra features that can be found in later models. If you do not need Modbus support or the NEMA 4X corrosion-resistant enclosure but do need a 24VDC control, the 9905-857 will be the best choice for you within this series. -AX Control Lead Technician
