About the 8237-1369

Model 8237-1369 is an over speed detection device that can be configured to work with various turbines. It is part of the ProTech-GII series from Woodward and fits any size of hydro, steam, or gas turbine. In the event of over acceleration, this product will safely shut down the system. Speed readouts for this device are between 4 and 20 mA, and it uses Modbus communication relays. In addition to acceleration detection, model 8237-1369 also uses MPU detection. This product performs routine tests to make sure each module is functioning properly. A conformal coating material makes this speed safety device resistant to sulfur contamination, as well as H2S and SO2 gases.

The product uses a triple modular design, with A, B, and C modules. This makes it possible to replace one aspect of the model while it is powered on and running. The panel mount device uses 2 out of 3 voted architecture. Model 8237-1369 uses both high voltage and low voltage power input. This product has been discontinued by Woodward but is still supplied through AX Control. It can be configured to work on any size turbine to safely shut it down if it over accelerates.
