About the 8237-1598
An over-speed safety detection device from the Woodward Protech-GII series is model 8237-1598. The panel mount design allows it to be to easily installed in any cabinet. These models work with gas, hydro, and steam turbines, and use an internal generator to perform routine functionality tests. It uses Modbus communication and two out of three voted architecture. There are low and high-voltage inputs on this device and independent relays. Model 8237-1598 will fit any size turbine and safely shuts it down if unsafe acceleration events happen. Open wire MPU detection is also used with this safety system. Each relay output has an individual alarm as well.
A conformal coating used for products 8237-1598 makes it resistant to H2S and SO2 gases over a long period of time. It is safe to use in class 3C2 environments. The triple modular design used for this model makes repairs possible while it is still online. One module can be worked on while the others are running. The results of routine speed tests will also be logged into the system. Model 8237-1598 can be found through AX Control despite being discontinued by Woodward.
