About the 8237-1601
A panel mounts over acceleration detection device from Woodward is model 8237-1601. It’s part of the Protech-GII series and works with any size turbine. It can be used on any turbine powered by steam, gas, or water, and will safely shut them down if they begin to accelerate too quickly. Each of the three independent relays has individual alarms. Model 8237-1601 uses two out of three voted architecture and two dual relay outputs. The sulfur-resistant conformal coating allows for this safety device to be used in class 3C2 environments. It has the international standard of IEC 721-3-3 1994.
Model 8237-1601 uses three separate modules, allowing for one to be worked on while the others are functioning. It can be configured to run over speed tests using an internal generator, and the results of these will be logged. The backplane design makes repairs and replacements easy and straightforward. In addition to acceleration detection, this safety device also uses open-wire MPU detection. This product is equipped with Modbus communication, in addition to high voltage and low voltage power inputs.
