About the DC-DCM
The Automation Direct Facts Engineering Koyo D2-DCM is a serial data communications module. This module is one of a series developed to interface with the DirectLogic 205 series of programmable logic controllers. Specifically, this module offers the user an extra communications port that doubles as a network interface. Supported CPUs for the module include D2-240, D2-250-1, and D2-260.
A multi-purpose port, D2-DCM offers users an expanded communications center on their controller. This module features an additional RS-232/422 signal hookup, allowing devices such as operator interface systems and personal computers to access the controller. The device must have a DL205 compatible driver. The module can also serve as a network interface, granting access to DirectNET and Modbus network when using an RTU protocol. DirectNET connectivity allows for the upload/download of any system data type from any compatible device. Modbus RTU converts the DCM into a slave station, allowing the user access to the network.
Following all installation and storage guidelines is integral in maintaining the integrity of D2-DCM. Ambient temperatures of the operating environment can affect the module’s internal hardware. Facility temperatures can fall no lower than 0℃, or 32℉, and rise no higher than 60℃, or 140℉. Diagrams depicting proper wiring and installation protocols can be found in the DL205 user manual. Technical support for the module was originally provided by the manufacturers, Koyo and Automation Direct. Be sure to refer to the user manual and datasheet for all installation and safety guidelines.
