About the H2-ERM
The H2-ERM Ethernet Remote Master (ERM) was manufactured by Automation Direct to work with series such as DirectLogic 205 and 405 units, WinPLC, and Do-more PLC systems. This unit is used to provide high-speed Ethernet Remote Input-Output (I/O) links at a low cost. The ERM unit will connect Ethernet remote slave modules, up to sixteen, to local CPU bases, through a 10BaseT, twisted pair, copper wire Ethernet link. The number of H2-ERM modules per CPU depends on the power Per Basebudget and the base configuration. When the H2-ERM is being configured within the DirectLogic systems, it is recommended that a PC with a 10BaseT network adapter card be used so the ERM Workbench software can be easily configured and downloaded.
There are general specifications that help operate the H2-ERM without any errors. The data transfer used in connection with the 10BaseT Ethernet communications is ten million bits per second. The proper power consumption required from the DirectLogic 205/405 bases is 320 mA at 5 VDC; if another power consumption is used, it can potentially cause errors or even personal injury in some cases. When mounting the unit, please make sure that the H2-ERM is used in a location where no corrosive gases are permitted; if the module is used in a location where there are corrosive gases, it can affect how the module works as well as break down the outside of the device.
One feature of the H2-ERM module is that it can be used for diagnostic testing on the attached slave units. The module can also diagnose the error codes and indicates the codes and potential faults on the unit. For the list of fault and error codes, refer to Appendix B in the H24-ERM-M User Manual.
