About the H2-SERIO-4
The H2-SERIO-4 module is considered a Serial Communications Module part of the DirectLogic 205 series from Automation Direct. This unit is considered a specialty module that can support a variety of serial devices. Consider that processing large amounts of serial data decreases the system response time. The H2-SERIO-4 Serial Communications Module contains 2 RS-232 ports with an RJ12 connector and 1 RS-422/485 port (5 position-terminal strips). A base module is a primary unit that will support the H2-SERIO-4 module; the base unit is labeled as an H2-EBC100 module; eight of the H2-SERIO-4 modules can be installed on the base unit to maximize the number of serial ports on the unit.
The H2-SERIO-4 module can be configured to enable a variety of valuable functions, such as:
-
Enable the port to respond to client devices running K Sequence Protocol.
-
Make the port available to client devices running Modbus/RTU protocol.
-
Make the port available for use by the Do-more controller’s Modbus Network Read (MRX) and Modbus Network Write (MWX) instructions.
For the RS-232 port, CTS, RXD, TXD RTS, and GND are the supported signals. The H2-SERIO-4 also supports 5, 50, 250, and 500 ms RTS transmission delay times.
For the RS-422 port (4 wire) TX+, TX-, RX-, RX+, GND signals are supported. For the RS-485 port (2 wires), RX+ and GND are the supported signals.
The maximum cable length for a 10BaseFL cable segment is 100 meters or 328 feet. You can connect a 10Base10FL cable to switches to lengthen the distance. Each switch can be attached to an additional 100 meters of cable. Two switches can be connected to extend the range of the cabling to 300 meters.
