About the F3-OMUX-1
F3-OMUX-1 is a specialty central processing unit (CPU) developed by Automation Direct, Facts Engineering, and Koyo. A member of the DirectLogic 305 series, this module provides unique capabilities to DL305 logic controllers. Functionalities include allowing a computer to control the I/O or writing control programs in BASIC rather than RLL. Almost all DL305 modules can interface with this CPU module, except D3-HSC and D3-12DA.
The OMUX module allows the PLC to function via a host computer to perform daily tasks. The host computer, using an OPTOMUX or PAMUX driver, executes the module’s entire control program. Custom and standard programs that support OPTOMUX drivers are acceptable programming tools. Supported programs include Intouch-Wonderware, Iconics-Genesis, and US Data FactoryLink. An OPTOMUX serial communication driver must be used by the host computer to interface properly. F3-OMUX-1 operates as a serial interface, accessing the host’s control programs and up to 184 DirectLogic 305 I/O. Connecting multiple CPUs in different PLCs increases the available I/O count. Two ports are featured on the module. Dual 9-pin D-sub sockets act as RS232C/422/485 hardwire communication points for the device.
Following all installation and storage parameters is necessary in maintaining the device. F3-OMUX-1 must be installed in the first slot of the PLC base. When operating, monitoring ambient temperatures is integral in preserving the device. Temperatures can safely range from 0℃ to 60℃, or 32℉ to 140℉. Refer to the series manual and device datasheet for complete installation and wiring guidelines. Technical support for this device was originally provided by Automation Direct and Facts Engineering.
Refer to OEM manuals for additional information about this device, including a comparison of the Optomux and the Bridge CPU with bridge jumpers.
