About the F3-OMUX-2
The Automation Direct Facts Engineering Koyo F3-OMUX-2 is a specialty central processing unit (CPU) module. Developed for the DirectLogic 305 series, the device allows for unconventional uses of its installed programmable logic controller. The ability to have a computer controlled I/O as well as complete BASIC programming are functions of the module. With the exception of D3-HSC and D3-12DA, all DL305 series modules can interface with this specialty device.
Using F3-OMUX-2 allows for a host computer to execute all functions for the logic controller. With an OPTOMUX or PAMUX driver the host can execute the control program of the device. Standard programs, such as Metra-Skyhawk Lt., Iconics-Genesis, and Intouch-Wonderware, can support the OPTOMUX driver. Custom programs can also be written by the host and executed by the PLC. For proper interfacing, the host must use an OPTOMUX serial communication driver to relay information. As it is a serial interface, the module can access the computer’s control programs in addition to 184 DirectLogic I/O. Daisy-chaining multiple CPUs together can expand the I/O capabilities of the PLC. Two 9-pin D-sub socket RS422/485 isolated serial ports are featured on the module. These ports allow for hardwire communication connections between the module and I/Os.
All storage and installation parameters should be followed to prolong the longevity of the device. When installing, F3-OMUX-2 must be put in the first slot of the PLC base. Once the device is installed and operating, be sure to monitor the ambient temperatures of the facility. For optimal use, temperatures should range no lower than 0℃, or 32℉, and no higher than 60℃, or 140℉. The series manual and device datasheet details all installation and wiring protocols. The manufacturers provided original technical support for this device.
