About the D4-430
The Automation Direct Facts Engineering Koyo D4-430 is a central processing unit (CPU) module. Developed for the DirectLogic 405 series, this module operates in DL405 programmable logic controllers. This unit is the smallest and most economical choice of the CPU series. Featuring built-in memory, the module includes 3.5K of EEPROM program memory. Unlike other CPU modules, the D4-430 does not require an additional memory cartridge.
D4-430 is a basic unit, allowing it to preform simple tasks easily. Two communications ports are built into the module. Programming is possible using the top port, which connects directly to the device writing the program. Supported programming devices include personal computers, handheld programmers, DV-1000, and other operator interfaces. A 15 pin connection, Port 1 can input RS232 with 9600 baud, while supporting K-sequence protocol as well as HPP and DirectSOFT. The bottom port is a slave only connection. It supports DirectNET protocol with speeds capping at 19.2K. This 25 pin auxiliary connection allows for a RS232/422 input with a selectable baud rate. Baud rates are selectable using the CPU Dipswitch located on the back of the module. The front of the device features a CPU keyswitch, allowing the user to select between RUN, TERM, and STOP. Six status indicators are also on the front plate, providing diagnostic LEDs for PWR, RUN, CPU, BATT, I/O, and COM.
To prevent unnecessary damage to D4-430, follow all manufacturer provided installation and storage parameters. Comprehensive wiring and installation guides and graphics are available in the series manual as well as the device datasheet. Original technical support for this module was provided by Automation Direct and Koyo.
