About the D4-440
The Automation Direct D4-440 is a central processing unit (CPU) module designed for the DirectLogic 405 series; the module is developed to interface with programmable logic controllers from the same series. Capable of performing fast boolean execution, this device is built for an optimal user experience. A separately sold memory cartridge is required to save programs to the module. The memory cartridges used with the D4-440 module are D4-RAM-1, D4-RAM-2, D4-EE-2, and D4-UV-2; each memory cartridge has a different memory type. Multiple power supply options are available using the device, including 110 and 220 VAC. The input voltage range of the device varies depending on the power supply. When operating 110 VAC, input voltages can range from 85 to 132 VAC. 220 VAC, in turn, requires between 170 and 264 VAC.
D4-440 features dual communication ports for programming and network connectivity. Port 1 is a 15-pin programming port that can read RS232 inputs. It can directly connect to several program writing devices, including computers, handheld programmers, DV-1000, and other operator interfaces. Port 2 is a 25-pin auxiliary port capable of inputting RS232/422 connections with a user-selectable baud rate. A slave port, this input can connect to DirectSOFT, DirectNET, and other operator interfaces. Baud rates are selectable using the CPU dipswitches found on the device. Users can use the CPU key switch to select either RUN, TERM, or STOP. The module has six status indicators, providing visual diagnostics, including PWR, RUN, CPU, BATT, I/O, and COM.
The D4-440 CPU has six status indicators on the front of the module to help the user and the system identify the operational function of the D4-440 and potential connections to ensure that no personal injury or property damage could occur.
