About the D4-450DC-1
D4-450DC-1 is a central processing unit (CPU) module developed by Automation Direct and Koyo. A member of the DirectLogic 405 family, it is capable of interfacing with programmable logic controllers from the same series. A built-in flash memory of 7.5K is available on the device, but additional memory space is available. Operating on DC power, the supply needed to power the module measures at 24 VDC.
A premium CPU module, D4-450DC-1 features a number of communications abilities. Four separate communication ports are featured on the module. Port 0 is a programming port featuring a 15-pin connector. This port can support RS232 inputs with a 9600 baud rate. Port 1 is a general purpose, 25 pin connector port capable of supporting RS232/422 inputs. Baud rates for Port 1 are user selectable using the programming software. Port 2 is a phone jack used for programming purposes. This RS232 input has a selectable baud rate of up to 38.4Kb. The final port is another general purpose port, capable of inputting RS232/422/485 connections. Like Port 2, baud rates for Port 3 are user selectable with the proper software. CPU scans from the module can be altered, depending on user need. Three scanning systems are featured on the device. These include variable, limited, and fixed scan rates. Six CPU status indicators and a CPU keyswitch complete the front plate of the module.
One of the features of the D4-450DC-1 is the CPUs ability to process up to sixteen PID loops directly on the unit. Various control modes can be selected on the unit; those control modes are manual, automatic, and cascade control. The model also supports a variety of alarms to aid in designating what faults or errors could be occurring.
