About the D4-RM
The Automation Direct Facts Engineering Koyo D4-RM is a serial remote I/O master module. Developed for the DirectLogic 405 series, this unit interacts with other modules and programmable logic controllers from the same series. When connected to a slave module, the remote master acts as an intermediary between it and the PLC’s CPU. Information sent to the RM is then sent to the CPU module on the PLC. Up to seven slaves can be supported per channel on the remote master.
D4-RM provides users with a simpler I/O solution, as points can be installed near the devices they are controlling reducing the amount of wiring required. D4-430 and D4-440 CPU modules can support up to two remote masters, while D4-450 and D4-454 can support three. Communication between the master and slave modules is available at RS485 using a twisted pair cable. This cable supports a baud rate of 38.4K baud. Slave modules can be set up to 3300 feet from the master module and still communicate properly.
Following all outlined installation and storage parameters will protect the module from unnecessary damages. A climate controlled working environment is needed for D4-RM to perform well. When operating, ambient temperatures of the facility can safely range from 0℃ to 60℃, or 32℉ to 140℉. Temperatures can still affect the module, even when it is not in use. Should the device be placed in storage, acceptable temperatures can fall as low as -20℃, or -4℉, and raise as high as 70℃, or 158℉. A complete installation and wiring guide is available in the device manual and datasheet. The manufacturers provided original technical support for this module.
