Product Description

The Automation Direct Facts Engineering Koyo D4-RSDC is a serial remote I/O slave module. Designed for the DirectLogic 405 series, the slave module can communicate with peripheral I/O modules and remote masters from the same series. This module collects and distributes data to remote I/O modules and sends that information to the remote master. The RM is installed in the base of the logic controller’s CPU and relays information from the slave to the CPU. Remote slave modules are easily installable into any size DL405 base. A 24 VDC power supply is included in the module.

When using the master and slave module pairing, users are provided with a simpler I/O experience. Since slave modules can be located up to 3300 feet from its master module, modules like D4-RSDC can be placed near their I/O devices. This drastically reduces the cost of wiring when the remote slave can be located near the device. Slave modules connect easily to their remote master using a twisted pair cable. This provides an RS485 connection with a baud rate of 38.4K baud. Multiple bases can be daisy chained using these cables, expanding the number of slave modules fed into a PLC. The accepted number of slave points varies depending on the CPU module used. Lower CPU modules like D4-430 can accept 512 points while models like D4-454 can support 1536.

Following outlined storage and installation parameters will protect D4-RSDC from unnecessary device damages. Like many technical parts, this module requires a controlled enviornment. When the device is operating, temperatures can safely range from 0℃ to 60℃, or 32℉ to 140℉. Storage temperatures can also affect the integrity of the drive and should be maintained between -20℃, or -4℉, and 70℃, or 158℉. A complete guide to installing and wiring the slave modules is available in the series manual and the device datasheet. Technical support for the module was provided by the original manufacturers, Automation Direct and Koyo.
