About the F4-08THM
F4-08THM is a thermocouple input module developed by Automation Direct, Facts Engineering, and Koyo. An eight channel module, this device was designed for the DirectLogic 405 series. It can interface with both DL405 programmable logic controllers as well as external peripheral devices. When connected to various peripheral devices, this module converts thermocouple signals into temperature readings. Type J, E, K, R, S, T, B, N, and C are all accepted inputs that this module can convert. A 16-bit resolution works to convert these signals precisely to produce the most accurate temperature reading.
As a general thermocouple input module, ranges of temperatures accepted by F4-08THM vary from type to type. Some thermocouple types can measure temperatures as low as -230℃, or -382℉, while others can measure as high as 2320℃, or 4208℉. All incoming data is converted into either ℃ or ℉, depending on user specification. No extra calculations or scaling is required from the user, as all displayed readings are converted. All calculations are based on data provided by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Channels on the device are fault protected inputs, allowing for supplies of up to ±50 VDC. An external power supply of 60mA (maximum) or 18-26.4 VDC is required for the module to operate correctly.
Since the module deals with extreme conditions, following proper installation and storage parameters will protect the device from any unnecessary damages. F4-08THM should be located in a climate controlled environment with monitored temperatures. While the device is operating, ambient temperatures can safely range from 0℃ to 60℃, or 32℉ to 140℉. Storage temperatures also affect the device, even when it is not in use. Acceptable temperatures in storage can fall as low as -20℃, or -4℉, and raise as high s 70℃, or 158℉. All wiring and installation guidelines are available in the series manual and device datasheet. Technical support for this module was originally provided by the manufacturers.
