About the F4-08THM-N
F4-08THM-N is a thermocouple input module manufactured by Automation Direct, Facts Engineering, and Koyo. Developed for the DirectLogic 405 series, this module directly interfaces with same series programmable logic controllers as well as external devices. When connected to other devices, thermocouple signals are converted into ℃ or ℉ direct temperature readings. The module is designed to only convert Type N inputs. This input can measure ranges between -70℃ and 1300℃, or -94℉ and 2327℉. The module’s integrated 16-bit resolution works to accurately convert incoming signals into measurable temperatures.
Conversions performed by F4-08THM-N are complete and do not require any extra conversions or scaling. The data that the conversions pull from were provided by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). A variety of system features protects the integrity of the data produced by the module. Automatic cold junction compensation (CJC) along with digital filtering and thermocouple linearization are some of the highlights of the system. The eight channels of the module are fault protected inputs, capable of accepting up to 50 VDC. An external power supply between 18 and 26.4 VDC is required to power the device.
Following all manufacturer provided installation and storage parameters will prevent the device from incurring any unnecessary damages. Though thermocouple modules like F4-08THM-N can measure extreme temperatures, the device itself cannot withstand them. While operating, ambient temperatures of the facility housing the module can safely range from 0℃ to 60℃, or 32℉ to 140℉. Storage temperatures can also affect the module and should be monitored. These temperatures can safely fall as low as -20℃, or -4℉, and raise as high as 70℃, or 158℉. Refer to the user manual and device datasheet for a complete installation and wiring guide. Technical support for this module was provided originally by the manufacturers, Automation Direct and Koyo.
