About the F4-16AD-2
F4-16AD-2 is an analog voltage input module developed by Automation Direct, Facts Engineering, and Koyo. A member of the DirectLogic 405 series, it interfaces with same series logic controllers as well as external I/O devices. As an analog voltage unit, this module inputs voltage signals from peripheral devices. Analog voltage signals to the PLC are converted using the module’s 12-bit resolution into digitally digestible signals. The sixteen channels of the module are single ended, with all terminating into a single common.
As the device deals with voltage signals, monitoring these levels will protect the device from any accidental damages. F4-16AD-2 supports two input ranges that are user selectable. Both 0 to 5 V and 0 to 10 V are supported input ranges for the device. All channels on the module must be configured to accept the same range. When operating in AC, absolute maximum ratings register at 130 VAC, while DC registers at 100 VDC. The module needs a 5V base power requirement of 75 mA for the device to operate properly.
Following all manufacturer provided storage and installation parameters will prolong the life of F4-16AD-2. The climate sensitive nature of the device requires that a climate controlled environment be implemented. While the device is operating, temperatures can range from 32℉ to 140℉, or 0℃ to 60℃. Storage temperatures can also affect the integrity of the module and should be monitored. Safe storage temperatures dip as low as -4℉, or -20℃, and raise as high as 158℉, or 70℃. A complete guide to wiring and installing the module can be found in the user manual and device datasheet. Technical support for this module was originally provided by Automation Direct and Koyo.
