About the F4-8MPI
The Automation Direct Facts Engineering Koyo F4-8MPI is a magnetic pulse input coprocessor module. Designed for the DirectLogic 405 series, this unit interfaces with DL405 programmable logic controllers as well as peripheral I/O devices. This module works to input pulses from Hall effect magnetic pick-ups and perform calculations based on those impulses. This unit is installed in the CPU base of the selected controller. Up to eight modules can be supported by a single CPU.
Monitoring incoming and outgoing electrical impulses will ensure that F4-8MPI is operating within its given limits. The module supports an input voltage range of ±10 mV to ±10 VDC, with 10 VDC serving as the peak voltage accepted. Input frequency ranges depend on the channel selected, with channels 1 through 4 supporting DC to 5.0 kHz and channels 5 through 8 supporting DC to 2.5 kHz. An external power requirement of 170 mA (max) or 18 to 25 VDC is needed to power the device. It is complete with Power ON LED status indicators and eight Input Pulse LEDs.
Following all storage and installation parameters will prolong the life of the module. F4-8MPI is sensitive to various conditions and should be installed in a climate controlled environment. When operating in a CPU, ambient temperatures can safely measure as low as 0℃, or 32℉, and as high as 60℃, or 140℉. If the device is not in use, storage conditions must also be monitored. Acceptable storage temperatures can range from -20℃ to 70℃, or -4℉ to 158℉. All safety and installation protocols can be found in the series manual and the device datasheet. The manufacturers provided original technical support for this module.
