This model of barcode scanner is one of Cognex’s series, known as DataMan. These DataMan barcode readers are divided into four separate designations, the 150, the 152, and the 260 and the 262, the last of which is what this model is.
The DataMan 262 models are each outfitted with a ⅓ inch CMOS image sensor, giving an image resolution of 1280 x 960 pixels. The global shutter allows the model to maintain a frame acquisition rating of 45 frames per second, and makes it able to decode the barcode labels at that same rate, 45 codes per second. Externally, the lens options for the 262 models are between a 6.2 millimeter option and a 16 millimeter option, and there are optional add-on components, such as polarized and unpolarized covered, and a liquid lens kit. There is also an integrated lighting system, made up of a series of high powered LED lights.
Across the board, all of the DataMan series are outfitted with a number of LEDs for different purposes. There’s a set of two green LED lights, intended for aiming the optics, and there are five, multicolored LEDs, made up of white, red, infrared, and blue, used for indicating the status of the scanner to the operator.
The 262 models’ aluminum framing is protected by a IP-65 graded case, and weighs approximately 142 grams, and has the standard in-line configuration dimensions of 43.1 millimeters by 22.4 millimeters by 64 millimeters. There’s also a right angle configuration that alters the dimensions slightly, into 43.1 mm by 35.8 mm by 49.3 mm.
