One of the more compact models in Cognex’s In-Sight 2000 line, the IS2000M-110-30-L18 is limited in the number of location and inspection tools that are available with it. While it is able to locate and identify patterns, it’s unable to measure and inspect elements of assembly line product like brightness and contrast, edges, and distance, angle and diameter.
Despite the limited amount of space it takes up (only 43.1 millimeters long, 22.4 mm wide, and 2.51 mm tall), this mini model has an IP65 rated housing frame of painted aluminum (painted the standard Cognex yellow and black) and tested against a 1000 shock test and 10 Gs of vibration at its three main axis points. It’s total weight is only 142 grams, or 5 ounces.
The standard integrated light system is outfitted with modular red LED lights, though options are available for white, blue or infra-red LED lights and band pass filters, with an optional polarized light cover. In order to keep the lights on for this unit, the model requires 24 volts of direct current and 48 watts of power.
Due to its smaller frame, the field of vision is of course reduced than the usual sized models. The 6.2 mm autofocused liquid lens has a 500 mm by 75 mm range, whereas the 16 mm range is wider, 200 mm. It captures images with its ⅓ inch monochrome CMOS imager, with 40 frames per second. It’s standard pixel resolution is 640 x 480, and no magnifying capabilities.
