About the 620L00554000010
The Eurotherm 620L00554000010 enables speed control of induction motors with an encoder. It also provides for a co-processor and ports for a fibre optic communications network.
The LINK fibre optic network provides a communications link for communications between other devices and the Eurotherm 620L00554000010. Fiber optic network cables can be longer in length compared to copper cables. However repeaters can be added to the network to increase the length even further.
A main benefit is that the fiber optic cables are not affected by electrical interference. In a manufacturing environment with many 3-phase power cables and other noise producing cables you can bundle the fiber optic cable with 3-phase power cables and run them in parallel without interference.
Configuring the LINK network might require adjusting the transmission strength of the transmitting ports. DIP switches are available on the Eurotherm 620L00554000010 to adjust the strength to high, medium, and low power. You can also use a switch to leave the transmitting port in the On position. This enables you to test the transmission strength at the receiving end of the network. Use a light meter to test the strength.
The Eurotherm 620L00554000010 has two sets of fiber optic ports. Each set has one port for transmitting and one port for receiving signals. If you are only using one set of ports, it is best practice to seal off the secondary receiver port with a blank fibre optic connector. This reduces the opportunity for the main receiver port to detect the stray light.
