The 193X709AAG01 is a High Power Universal Amplifier Card for GE Drive systems such as the Speed Variator Drive, the SCR Drive, and other compatible systems.  Both the Speed Variator and the SCR Drive use a DC motor and are closed loop adjustable speed systems. However, the SCR drive is unidirectional while the Variator drive is bidirectional with constant load torque that allows horsepower to change linearly with changes in speed.  

The 193X709AAG01 is built with a front panel that connects to the rest of the printed circuit board by two screw connections.  This front panel has a built-in handle which allows for easy insertion and removal of the drive for maintenance and replacement.  The top edge of the panel is marked with the board ID number, the name of the drive, and the GE logo, allowing the proper drive to be identified quickly within the rack.  

The 193X709AAG01 is built with two large bipolar transistors.  These transistors are individually mounted to the top of C-shaped metal housings that connect to the circuit board using two screws.  Underneath these housings, the board is populated with several metal board connections for wires, as well as carbon composite resistors.  If the board is intermittently malfunctioning, the connections to these metal connectors should be checked for proper contact.

The 193X709AAG01 is also populated with a single universal amplifier card (193X701CA.)  This board is mounted perpendicular to the bottom board and is populated with transistors, resistors, capacitors, diodes, potentiometers, and other components.
