The GE Terminal Board Relay Card 531X171TMAABG1 contains interface circuitry and the connection terminals for most signal I/O. The board connects to the drive control board through cables. The GE Terminal Board Relay Card 531X171TMAABG1 features an RS232C serial port connection that you can use to connect the board to a laptop computer, or other device.

To use the connection you must make sure that each port on the laptop is assigned a unique address. To configure the serial ports, access the setup configuration utility and assign addresses and make sure the ports are not disabled. You might also make sure the devices are compatible.  You might also make sure the serial connector is connected to the right connector on the laptop. The serial connection can be used as an interface to the configuration tools and diagnostic tools for the drive.

The board contains jumpers and DIP switches that enable the installer to configure the board for use in the drive. Before you install the replacement board, carefully locate the jumpers and DIP switches on the defective board and set the jumpers and DIP switches on the replacement to match the defective board. You might find that the location of the jumpers and switches  has been updated on the new board. Even though the location might have changed, find the jumper identifier on the new board and set the jumper in the identical position.
