About the IS200EDEXG2A
The IS200EDEXG2A model is part of the EX2100e series produced by General Electric. This model is the primary Exciter De-excitation board. During operation, the primary function of this model is to fire SCR functions, which will then allow the conduction paths to go through the field discharge inductor, allowing the field energy to be dissipated. If this model is being used in larger excitation systems it is highly recommended that EDEX models are paralleled. This model is also equipped with dual independent firing control circuits.
The IS200EDEXG2A board is not only used as the main board in the de-excitation module, but it is also one of the primary boards in the crowbar module. The EDEX board is connected to the EAUX board and is controlled by this board for de-excitation, but the EDEX board can self-initiate de-excitation if the EAUX board fails. The EDEX board can also sense magnetic fields produced by the field discharge currents that are flowing through the thyristor through the mounted Hall effect conduction sensors featured on this board.
The IS200EDEXG2A board has two firing control circuits which are powered by different power supplies that also use separate conduction sensors indicating that they are mutually independent. While the EDEX board has a part-specific manual that is the GEI-100466 as it is difficult to find at this time the best manual to use is the GEH-6781L EX2100e Excitation Control User’s Guide.
